syngenta

Syngenta was found in 2000, making it a relatively recent company compared to others. The CEO of Syngenta is J. Erik Fyrwald and has headquarters located in Basel, Switzerland. Additionally, the company distributes modified seeds such as  oil seeds, sugar beets, rice, soybeans and sells herbicide products. An example of their herbicide products would be Atrazine. Atrazine is used on sugarcane and corn to prevent weeds from sprouting. Syngenta is also aids in the bio fuel department. [I.5]

Their mission statement states: "We provide products and solutions to help farmers achieve global food security for a growing population, sustainable. We work by looking at agriculture through the eyes of growers, and by applying world-class science to develop crop protection products and seeds. bayer

Bayer was found as early as August 1, 1863 by Friedrich Bayer. The company sells a variety of products, those including: plant biotech technology, pesticides, women's care, vegetable seeds, and more. Rice, soy, wheat, sugar beets, and sugar cane seeds are modified seeds that Bayer also distributes to the public. One of the most well known products deriving from Bayer is aspirin that has a debate over which scientist made the largest contribution.  [I.3]

monsanto

Monsanto, found in September 26, 1901 was found by John Francis Queeny. Additionally, the company's headquarters are located in St. Louis, Missouri. The corporation distributes a variety of genetically modified seeds those being wheat, cotton, corn, sugar cane, and more. Furthermore, Monsanto is one of the top 10 U.S chemical companies, proving them to hold a significant amount of power. [I.1]

dow agrosciences

Dow agrosciences aids in the distribution of seeds, pesticides, and biotechnology solutions. The founders of Dow Agrosciences are  Eli Lilly and Company and Dow Chemical Company in 1989 with headquarters located in Zionsville, Indiana. Owned by the "parent" corporation, Dow Chemical company, Dow Agrosciences is a large competitor to other agricultural companies. Dow Chemical company sells modified seeds, those including grain corn, silage corn, sunflowers, alfalfa, sorghum, cotton, and soybeans. Additionally, a well known pesticide that DOW also owns is Lorsban. [I.7]
